PlayStation had a real banger of a State of Play this year. There was the charming young Bond in 007 Starlight; Keanu Reeves returning as the assassin with style, John Wick, in an untitled John Wick game; more bits of Leon S. Kennedy returning in the new Resident Evil game; and so many things. Yet, somehow, I can’t stop thinking about that giant cock Krafton put in front of the audience during the event. I was gobsmacked.

For its next game, currently called Project Windless, the developer and publisher have adapted a story from a Korean novel called The Bird That Drinks Tears, where players will be playing as a massive chicken. Chickens have been slaughtered in butcher shops for quite some time. It seems like the tables have turned now because this warrior bird is wielding a Thanos-like blade and butchering entire armies on the battlefield.

The Tone of Krafton’s Game is Serious But I Couldn’t Stop Laughing

The trailer begins with a Nhaga lady holding a beating heart, something that’ll remind you of the gross tentacles-laden Davy Jones from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. It’s clear that this lady isn’t happy with “filthy creatures” living in this fictional world, and she is waging war against them. That sets the serious tone in the trailer. But that didn’t work on me after a minute.

As soon as this Nhaga lady let her army of minions loose, an entity starts to butcher them, and it is none other than Krafton’s giant cock, standing erect on the battlefield, ready to slaughter more. And as I was watching this bird staring into the screen, I was dead… laughing. That’s one angry bird out there! Lol.

Who is the Angry Bird in Project Windless, By the Way?

We’ll be playing with Krafton’s giant cock when the game comes, so we should definitely know a little bit about it. The angry bird you saw in the trailer (go watch it if you haven’t already) is called Tinahan and belongs to Rekon, one of four races in the story. The others being humans, Tokkebi, and Nhaga. The name is said to be borrowed from the peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh, but I highly doubt that based on what I saw in the trailer.

Tinahan is simply answering to his Calling, a lifelong aspiration that’s unique to each member of his tribe. And his calling is to reach these massive creatures called Skyrays flying high in the sky. Don’t know what this bird is thinking of doing with them. But he hasn’t got any superpowers, so how is he going to reach up there? Plus, he is broke.

Because, according to the lore, this mighty chicken has gotten some financial support from the Great Temple of Hainsha, which has chosen him to join a rescue party, helping him clear his debts. One has to be stress-free for tasks like these.

We’ll get to know more about Krafton’s mighty and rather meaty cock Project Windless when the game comes. As of now, there’s no release date for it. But you can always read the novel to understand.
