As with any sector of journalism, ensuring the words we put out there into the public forum are accurate is of the utmost importance. Not only for the sake of the story but to establish and maintain authority, trust, and transparency for our readers. As such, there are times when changes may be required to be made to an already published story, and in the worst case, sometimes even removed completely.
With developing news stories, you can expect changes to be made on the fly as things continue to come in and we’re made aware of more facts involved, whether it’s for added context, a typo or a correction to a factual error. For major changes, you will always see a note at the top of the article, prominent and first seen, explaining any change or correction in the story. This will always be preferable to us at Thumb Wars over the complete removal of a story, if at all possible.
Mistakes are human nature, and they will happen, but we will always strive to avoid them in the pursuit of journalistic integrity, quality, and trust.
