Revealed five months ago at PlayStation’s summer State of Play showcase, Romeo is a Dead Man looks every bit of weird and crazy as we’ve come to expect from the mind behind Lollipop Chainsaw, Shadows of the Damned, and Tokyo Jungle. Since the reveal, the studio and publisher have been relatively silent, but now, five months later, we finally have some concrete information about the game, including never-before-seen gameplay!
Straight from SUDA51:
Grasshopper Manufacture Inc. (GhM) has today announced it’s sharpening blades and reloading an arsenal ahead of the third installment of the Grasshopper Direct – “GRASSHOPPER DIRECT: 5 minutes feat. ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN” which will go live on Friday, 5th December, 10am JST (1am GMT, 2am CET; Thursday 4th December, 5pm PST, 8pm EST) on the Grasshopper Archives YouTube.
Among brand-new updates to pour over, next week’s Grasshopper Direct will showcase more of the studio’s upcoming, absolutely crazy, sci-fi action game, ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN. Set to launch on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026, the presentation will also share a behind-the-scenes look at the game’s development, together with never before seen gameplay.
Featuring multiple art styles, zany combat, and a balls-to-the-wall aesthetic, one YouTube comment described as “This is basically Showa era Kamen Rider on a mountain of cocaine, and it looks fantastic.”, Romeo is a Dead Man is definitely one of the more unique games we’ve seen in recent months, so we’re looking forward to seeing more revealed next week.
Romeo is a Dead Man doesn’t have a release date (potentially revealed at the above showcase?), but it is due to release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
