Fable is getting a reboot for what feels an extremely long time. It got delayed a few times, and ancient people and gamers wait to interact with each other eagerly. Playground Games is developing it after the closure of the original developer of the series, Lionhead Studios. Playground will keep the essence of the original games, but it is their own interpretation, so you don’t have to play the first three to get the gist for what is happening here.
You will like this one even if you are hearing about it for the first time. Mainly because of popular actors and actresses appearing in it. But there’s also a lot to uncover here. Do that when the game releases and read about what we know of it below.
Release Date and Platforms

It is currently set for the February 23, 2027, release. It will be available on Windows, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Fable Storyline and Gameplay
Story
The Hero, that’s what the main protagonist is called, who we play as, is from a place called Briar Hill. There have been some strange occurrences that he or she will try to resolve by investigating other places and getting along with other heroes of the game. The rest of the story is unknown currently, but as we get closer to release, we’ll definitely know more. It’s set in Albion, the same city as the other Fable games, so it’ll be familiar, yet different, in a way.
Gameplay
It’s a living world that. That Bowerstone, the main city in Albion. Albion’s where the entire game is set. Story is just a fascinating part, you’ll see, when you see the vegetable-obsessed citizens, talking pigs, the waving crops in fields, and more. Every action you take will impact your reputation in the world.
You can treat a girl well and take her on a date. Take the relationship forward by being kind. Or you can break up with her to appear a jerk. Pay a beggar or offer him a job and be kind-hearted, or misbehave to fall down even lower than a beggar. The choice really is yours, and you can do what you want, within reason. Be a farmer, landlord, warrior, hero, or villain.
The combat system is dynamic too, with melee weapons, ranged, magic and so much more. And you sure can fight anyone. But don’t you shoot an arrow at some random citizen, because then you are confirmed to establish your reputation as a criminal. Do what you are supposed to do. Be a Hero.
Main Characters Appearing in the Game
Now Fable is designed as a game where everyone you see, those NPCs are important. Every interaction can make or break you. We are talking about 1,000+ unique ones in it, with Playground confirming each one has uniquely voiced lines. How this presents itself in the game is unknown though. Will they remember you and what you’ve said previously? How about your actions in fronto of them? However, there are some major characters in the story, whom some popular actors and actresses have portrayed as well. Let’s take a look at them below.
Hayley Atwell as Isabel

Marvel’s Peggy Carter, also Captain Carter in What If…?, is again involved in a fantasy-IP, this time in Fable. But her version of Hero is actually a villain in the game. She is grieving clearly and looks down on other heroes for using their power for trivialities. She thinks Albion is broken.
Matt King as Humphry

Only if Albion was about ships and pirates, Matt King’s character Humphry would make a great friend with Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow of Pirates of the Caribbean. Humphry used to be a hero, but he is a drunkard now. You can also compare him with Avengers: Endgame‘s Thor with a belly, for that matter. King is one British comedian and has appeared in many films as Dr. Dolittle, Bronson, and many more, not forgetting the iconic Super Hans in Peep Show, what most would know him from.
Richard Ayoade as Dave the Giant

Dave the Giant thinks that he is too intelligent to exist. Little creatures around give him a hard time. Our hero will be one of them and is likely to be the last thing this giant sees, if he is unlucky. Richard Ayoade portrays him, who wears multiple hats of comedian, director, actor, and more. He has appeared in films like The Watch and Bunny and the Bull, and just like Matt King before him, he’s best known from an iconic comedy sitcom, this time The I.T Crowd.
Lily Nichol and Ukweli Roach as the Hero

You are to choose either a female protagonist or a male one. The former is portrayed by Lily Nichol, and the latter by Ukweli Roach. Lily has appeared in a few TV shows like Death in Paradise and Code of Silence but most popularly in The South Westerlies. For Ukweli, you probably remember him as Jay from StreetDance 3D.
