Ghost of Yotei is an Impressive Sequel, But its Biggest Success is How it Innovatively Used One Piece of PlayStation Hardware

Ghost of Yotei has finally been released, and the gaming community immediately fell in love with Atsu and was enamored by her grit. As a survivor and fierce mercenary, Atsu made a name for herself as the Onryo, which was not only for theatrics since she could commit to the role as a vengeful spirit. As the new Ghost, Atsu has access to more advanced gear and tactics than Jin Sakai ever did in his time.

As a PlayStation 5 exclusive, Sucker Punch Productions did not waste a beat to make this experience much more immersive and interactive. This game would not be the same without the advancements of the DualSense controller.

The DualSense Controller Is Fully Realized in the Ghost of Yotei

As seen in early previews, there is much more to do in this sequel than in the original game. There is no camping feature in Ghost of Tsushima, and other side activities were fairly limited. Cut to a few years later, Sucker Punch Productions took everything that made the first game stand out and dialed it to eleven, with a plethora of new features, such as cooking and playing Atsu’s shamisen.

Unlike the first game, which is about fighting for Tsushima’s freedom, Atsu is on a more personal and dangerous quest for justice and vengeance. The line between the two has been blurred, but you can do a few things to make your Ghost of Yotei experience much more fulfilling, and the DualSense controller makes it even better.

In the early days of the PlayStation 5, not everyone was fully convinced about the DualSense and viewed it as a gimmicky device. It is now packed with more tech and improvements that have never been seen before. It has haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. We might be five years into the current console generation, but Sucker Punch Productions has found a way to utilize it better than most developers.

The DualSense Capabilities Could Convince PlayStation 5 Users To Take Their Time With This Sequel

Sucker Punch Productions subtly confirmed that the Ghost of Yotei will roughly have the same map size as Ghost of Tsushima; however, these new features could convince them to take it slower, and it’ll certainly offer more for players to do. The camping features, allowing you to cook food by tilting the controller and playing music for night travellers, could help this game stand on its own without being compared to its predecessor, at least in these minor differences.

Atsu may be a lone wolf, but it is no excuse to live like a normal person in 1603. PlayStation hardware has come a long way, and it is giving players an experience unlike any other.

Ghost of Yotei is now available worldwide, exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
