The gaming community is in mourning after the sudden passing of D’Angelo, the renowned musician who was involved in the making of Red Dead Redemption 2. Fans had nothing but positive things to say when the game was released in 2018, especially with the music in the background during one of the heaviest moments in the story.

Music and video games have accomplished plenty apart, but the Red Dead Redemption franchise would have never been the same without it. Fans took to social media and offered their condolences to the bereaved family and shared how much his work meant to them.

During Chapter 5, when Arthur and the gang escaped by the skin of their teeth in Guarma, players assumed control of Arthur and rode on horseback towards camp. It was dark, eerie, devoid of hope, but once D’Angelo’s Unshaken started playing, it set the mood and tone for the rest of Arthur’s journey.

Red Dead Redemption 2 might have been a slow burn, but the buildup in the story was a masterclass in game development. The developers knew when, where, and what kind of music was needed to amplify what the player was going through, and it paid off in the end.

The song was good on its own, but many believed this sequence was the true turning point in the Red Dead prequel’s story. Not only did it hook the players on the stick, but it also inspired others in ways unimaginable. It is a testament to the musical prowess of D’Angelo and his everlasting influence and reach.

Rockstar Games also paid tribute to D’Angelo with a brief yet heartfelt message on their social media account. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a technical marvel, especially since it was ported to PC and players began doing creative mods, but it was the perfect channel for musicians to pour their hearts into and enhance their craft.
