Stormforge, the cel-shaded fantasy survival game, has revealed not only a gameplay trailer but also the details for its upcoming playtest, which is open to everyone!
Featuring multiple biomes, including ‘lush meadows, windswept forests, forgotten ruins, and secret dungeons (and more), the opportunities for exploration and creation are nearly endless, thanks to the game’s procedurally generated map. Curt Bererton, CEO and co-founder at Roboto Games, had this to say about the studio’s debut game:
“Stormforge is about risk and reward in magical storms modeled after real-world tornadoes, sandstorms, and blizzards. Its storms are brutal, but they hold the power players need to survive this world. This playtest is our first chance to see how players brave the storms, build their world, and shape their own stories.”
For those looking to join the playtest, you can do so HERE. For now, the upcoming playtest will include early access to the core systems, including the unique storm mechanics the game boasts, as well as the base-building aspects. Having gone hands-on with the game at Gamescom, the storms are certainly something to behold, both being used as a tool (send yourself flying into the air with your trusty glider to cover huge distances), and also as a weapon/enemy, as they will home in on you continually, and can wreak havoc with both yourself and your base building.
Also included in the playtest, direct from Roboto Games:
“Every island is unique and filled with secrets, treasures, and powerful world bosses. Defeating each boss unlocks new character classes and abilities allowing for a wide variety of strategies. The game also features seamless modding support, making it easy for the community to introduce custom gear, enemies, locations, and game rules.”
Will you be joining in Stormforge’s playtest?
Stormforge can be wishlisted on Steam as we speak, and is set for an Early Access launch in 2026, with consoles potentially following in the future.
