Soulslikes are seemingly the go-to genre for any new studio looking to make a name for itself, and as a fan of the genre, that’s not a bad thing. Now, we have a new trailer for Sword Sage: Awakening, an upcoming action-RPG from Sword Panda Limited, which bases its story in Chinese mythology, all wrapped up in a gloriously unique art style.
Per 4Divinity and Sword Panda Limited:
Publisher 4Divinity and developer Sword Panda Limited today announced a brand-new gameplay and story trailer for Sword Sage: Awakening, the upcoming action RPG rooted in Chinese mythology and folklore. The trailer follows San Niang, a disciple of the Yuangong Sect, as she faces the weight of an ancient mistake. Long ago, forbidden celestial books were leaked, giving humanity divine knowledge. This upset the balance between earth and the spirit world, and now San Niang must confront the consequences.
Sword Sage: Awakening pulls players into the fantastical world of Jiannandao, a land forever changed by the Supreme White Gibbon Sage. After drunkenly unearthing long forbidden texts containing divine power and knowledge that humans were never meant to have, the lands became plagued with relentless natural disasters and monstrous infestations. The people of Jiannandao have learned to survive by forging advanced technologies to fight back against the onslaught of suffering they face.
The trailer follows San Niang as she travels across Jiannandao and faces formidable enemies. Armed with exceptional martial arts abilities, mystical artifacts, and a secret swordsman technique, San Niang must vanquish the dangers that threaten her home.
