The Last of Us Part 2 has been released for quite some time; however, the developers are finding new ways to keep the story relevant today. The original game was praised highly for its linear storytelling and for being bold enough to tackle themes about humanity and loss. Fans are still divided about the sequel’s story and execution, but one aspect that raised some eyebrows is the pacing.

The change of perspective between Ellie and Abby affected the momentum for some players, and others gave up on the experience altogether. The developers found a solution to remedy the problem by allowing players to revisit the story in chronological order, and then some.

While Naughty Dog was trying to tell an ambitious story in the sequel, it wasn’t perfect, and others are brave enough to say it was a messy and harrowing experience. The Last of Us Part 2 improved in many ways from the original. The visuals, graphics, and gameplay mechanics were significantly improved, but the pacing was affected as the story introduced more characters.

The Chronological Experience might be the definitive way to experience this story. Instead of waiting to complete Ellie’s 3-day Seattle campaign to go back in time in Abby’s shoes, this new mode allows you to play the story in Naughty Dog’s traditional fashion.

This mode is perfect for players who were initially disappointed about the pacing of The Last of Us Part 2. Perhaps the Chronological mode could convince other players to give this game a second chance, and a new way for fans to experience this story.
