Gears of War is almost at its 20th Anniversary. As of tomorrow, November 7th, 2026, it’ll be exactly 20 years to the day since the now iconic XBOX franchise jumped onto our consoles and gave us so many brutal and bloody hours of grub-killing fun. Since then we’ve had a multitude of titles, books, comics, and maybe one day a series?

To celebrate the Gears of War 20th Anniversary, The Coalition are throwing players all sorts of things. In a November 3rd post on socials, they revealed Guardian would be making a return to multiplayer, with Horde mode also disabling the supply cache, amping up the difficulty and leaving you to rely on your own loadouts.

Going one step further now, the studio has announced General RAAM, the original antagonist of the first game and long time favourite of fans, will be making a comeback tomorrow. A free, redeemable character for all players, this version is a little different than the original. Called ‘Conqueror Uzil RAAM’, you can see for yourself in the video below just how ‘modern’ he’s become.

In response to the above post, some fans took the opportunity to make demands, with some asking for more maps, others asking for the return of the Carmine family, and some even making Sam Altman RAM jokes.

This surely won’t be the last time Gears of War gets a reveal for its 20th Anniversary celebrations, but this could be the best of the lot.

Since releasing, Gears of War: E-Day has reportedly sold over 400,000 copies, with a huge portion of the player-base being cannibalised by XBOX Game Pass. Whether this will affect the future of the franchise, and whether we’ll be talking about its 30th Anniversary in ten years is unknown now, so take advantage while we can!
