“Be a legend”: Borderlands 4’s Randy Pitchford Won’t Listen to Fan Worries On One Specific Gameplay Issue

Borderlands 4 is shaping up to be the ultimate action-adventure role-playing game by Gearbox Studios after years of working on the franchise. The game is still a few months away, but this didn’t stop the developers from sharing news about the upcoming project, and one response may not bode well with the gaming community.

Gearbox CEO Has an Interesting Response About a Fan’s Concern for Borderlands 4

Fans who grew up with this franchise realized that the best way to make the most of their time is to find the best gear and create a powerful build. Gearbox Studios took its sweet time and listened to the community’s feedback for Borderlands 4, but one concern might have gotten overlooked.

Randy Pitchford served as the CEO of Gearbox Studios for two decades and understands how the Borderlands player base thinks and feels about the games. One fan was curious about the performance and had a definitive answer of 60 FPS; however, Pitchford had a different approach to address the second concern about balance.

The developers promised a seamless experience, especially since this game will be the studio’s biggest and most expansive project yet. Pitchford’s enthusiasm reflects the amount of work the studio has invested in Borderlands 4 and would prefer the players to worry less about balance and have fun. While this sounds optimistic, it could lead to the game’s downfall.

The loot-based system is the lifeblood of the Borderlands franchise, and this needs to be spot on for longtime fans to enjoy. Grinding for higher-quality gear must feel rewarding, otherwise, players will quickly lose interest or will get bored if they are rewarded with powerful gear all the time. Balance is a necessity, and the fans’ concern is valid.
