Atomfall, or the British Fallout as some have called it, is here, and it’s a bit of a biggun when it comes to the size of the game. Set in the Lake District, the game follows five years after the events of the Windscale Nuclear Disaster, a real-life event that was quickly subdued and largely forgotten about in British history for us, but in the game’s universe, it became so much more.
With a typical Rebellion attitude to gameplay, there’s little guidance in Atomfall, promoting player freedom and choice instead, but that just begs the question, how long does it take to complete?
How Long Does it Take to Beat Atomfall?
A survival game without every survival element is a rare breed these days, and Rebellion has decided to streamline its survival genre efforts in some of the best ways. There isn’t any base-building, but you do have complete freedom to go anywhere at any time.
Follow any quest line and investigate them, or ignore them completely in favor of something else. There’s the standard sidequests, collectibles and a main story full of twists and turns to work your way through, and it’ll all take some time.

Main Story | 25 Hours |
Main + Extras | 40 Hours |
Platinum Trophy/All Achievements | 50 Hours |
Atomfall’s story is one that can be approached in multiple ways, with some of the main quests having multiple different ways to complete them, all of which will end up taking time in their own right. It also means you may be tempted to play through it multiple times, although there is the potential to ‘save-scum’ some endings/dialogue choices.

The real chunk of your time will be taken up in pursuit of the platinum trophy/all achievements. With the game having multiple endings, you’ll need to be strategic about your save files and the choices you make, not to mention keeping track of the collectibles you find as you play. With a trophy for completing the game in under five hours, it certainly is possible to speed run, but then you’ll be missing the point of Atomfall‘s many charms.
Atomfall will be released for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on March 27th, 2025.
