You’ve probably heard that the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming this June unless you were living under a rock or perhaps in a pineapple under the sea.
The latest Nintendo Direct stream was noteworthy not just because of the very welcome announcement of a successor to the original Switch (which was beginning to show its age) but also because of the lineup of games coming to the new console.
The Switch 2 Is Bringing Back Tony Hawk With an Interesting Twist

Revealing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 for the Switch 2 was quite a good move by Nintendo, considering the large fanbase that the two games enjoy. However, one sharp-eyed fan noticed a new addition to the game and was quick to point it out on X (formerly Twitter).
my favorite part of the nintendo switch 2 direct was when they showed spongebob in the new tony hawk remaster for .72 seconds and did not elaborate. pic.twitter.com/5vBAclYQHc

Iron Galaxy Studios’ remake of the popular games is sure to bring veterans of the franchise and newbies alike to the rink when it makes its debut on the Switch 2. The tribute to Spongebob is sure to bring more than a few fans of the energetic and iconic character over to Nintendo’s unique brand of portable gaming in June 2025.
Whether this is just one instance of Spongebob or multiple, or even more new maps with guest locations in store for players is anyone’s guess, but whilst the pricing of the Nintendo Switch 2 game prices continues, we may have to hold off for now.
Until then, perhaps another visit to Bikini Bottom may help make the wait easier.

With a passion for gaming that is equaled only by his love for writing, Varun has either a controller, keyboard, or a guitar in his hands when he is not out exploring the middle of nowhere on a motorcycle. Soulslikes, RPGs, and action-adventure titles keep him awake at night and get him out of bed in the morning. He will never stop lamenting the lack of a Bloodborne sequel even as he spends another couple of hours exploring the Lands Between in Elden Ring.
