Although at the moment Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is still in development, during Gamescom 2026 we were granted a new look at some of the hero characters that will be coming to the game during the trailer on Opening Night Live with these two characters coming to the Lannister faction and the Stark faction.
Stealth and Brute Strength Will Be Coming to Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
During Opening Night Live 2026, we got a small glimpse towards two upcoming heroes that will be making their way onto Game of Thrones: War for Westeros and those characters are The Mountain and Arya Stark, and they will be joining the roster upon the game’s release, which is planned for early 2027.
Although we don’t have many details regarding these characters, we can see during the trailer that The Mountain will be able to use huge slash attacks with his sword to clear out numerous enemies at once and also emit some form of buff, while Arya Stark can turn invisible and sneak up on her opponents to kill them and can even turn into that enemy once she has killed them.
Obviously these abilities will need to be earned within the game, as heroes do need to level up within the game in order to use their various skills, but for now we do not know the requirements behind these skills or what their ultimate uses will be within the combat system in the game.
For example, we are unsure if Arya will just simply adopt the character’s design or if she will also be able to use their skills but her own version that will aid her team, and the limits, as we doubt she can turn into a dragon, but only time will tell for us to find out what their capabilities are.
