Helldivers 2 Turnaround Grinds to a Halt as It’s Declared the “Worst mistake of my life” By Fans

Helldivers 2 and it’s issues have been no secret, with many early adopters of the game long since disappearing to greener pastures. However, the folks over at Arrowhead Game Studios (AGS) haven’t stopped plugging away at the problem they created for themselves, and have slowly and surely been regaining the trust of a chunk of those abandoning players.

With the success of the 60-day update plan apparent, which brought back the fun, and removed most of the frustration (essentially doing what players asked and returning the game to an earlier state of development, more or less), attention had turned to the finally completed Democracy Space Station, a community effort born from our hard-earned samples and cash… but everyone is unhappy already.

Not too long ago Helldivers 2 was the talk of every gamer on the planet, or at least it felt like it. Will it come to Xbox? What’s the long-term plan story and lore-wise? What does the black hole mean? Why do we need to connect our PSN accounts when we’re on PC? And so on. After the PSN fiasco, public interest and trust dropped like a rock, and AGS found themselves in a pickle.

In an attempt to bring everyone back on side, whilst also fixing the over abundance of samples and cash for end game users, they announced the building of the Democracy Space Station. In short, a community goal for us all to help with, with the reward being all sorts of OP weapons and support. Well, we certainly got the overpowered part of that, and fans are already regretting the decision to help build it, only one day after it was concluded.

In another post, a fan showed the ‘helpfulness’ of the Orbital Bombardment the Democracy Space Station offers, and it certainly points towards an upcoming nerf of some point (back to the start of this whole nerf and patch mess!).

The discourse surrounding the space station has ranged from anger to disappointment, and some even putting on their tin foil hats to suggest something else is afoot “Feel like something is off. I walked through my first mission without scratch, but my teammate was vaporized like 10 times by it.”.

How AGS decides to fix this latest issue is anyone’s guess, that is, if they even consider it an issue, but whilst the majority of the fans are unhappy, the game teeters on a perilous edge between regaining the former stranglehold it had over 2024’s live-service gaming scene, and faltering off to nothingness. It’d be a damn shame if it were the latter.
