Kiborg wastes no time throwing you into fast-paced, brutal combat, but don’t worry; with a few smart strategies, you can stack the odds in your favour early on. Like many roguelites, Kiborg can feel pretty punishing early on, although it does have a learning curve that will lead to player satisfaction. Here are a few strategies that you can use to streamline progression while you hone your gameplay skills:
1. Master the Basics of KIBORG

The tutorial does a great job of introducing Kiborg’s core systems, and there aren’t too many of them to remember. Focus on mastering dodging, parrying, and basic melee attacks first. Precise movement and pulling off clean combos will save you much more often than relying purely on heavy weaponry.
2. Prioritize Mobility and Defence Upgrades
Upgrades that boost your movement or basic health regeneration should be your top priority. While weapon-based upgrades are, survival relies more on avoiding hits than purely offensive measures. It is also important to note; the longer you stay alive, the more resources you’ll accumulate to spend on upgrades.
3. Memorize Enemy Attack Patterns

From basic melee units to brutes and rangers, each enemy type has its own distinct attack pattern. Spend your early runs learning those patterns and animations. Understanding when to move toward enemies and when to retreat will save you from unnecessary deaths, especially when rooms start spawning a multitude of different enemy types later in each run.
4. Take Advantage of KIBORG’s RNG Rooms
Rooms like the Meditation Chamber for health recovery, Weapon Rooms, and Spike Rooms offer big advantages. Obviously, a lot of it is luck-based; during some runs, the arsenal on offer will fall in your favour, and other times it will feel as though the gaming gods are against you. However, they have the potential to boost progression significantly.
5. Don’t Hoard Resources

Many roguelites punish players who hoard their best gear “for later,” and Kiborg is no different. Any resources that fall into your lap, use them as soon as you acquire them. Your priority should always be making it to the next room in any run.
6. Accept That Death is Progress in KIBORG
Every failed run feeds into your personal progression. Permanent upgrades to health, melee power, or weapon abilities can drastically improve your survival chances over time, meaning that even frustrating early deaths are a form of growth.
In Kiborg, playing aggressively does pay off, as most rooms don’t offer anywhere to hide, but sometimes avoiding conflict is the way to go, and smart resource management is also a huge factor. Keep moving forward, taking advantage of any RNG opportunities you can, and you’ll be cutting through Volkov’s fleshy mounds in no time.
