Red Dead Redemption 2 came out a few years ago and made the gaming community realize how great games can be under the right leadership, budget, and time. This prequel ran exceptionally well on previous-gen gaming consoles and looks as good as most triple-A games released today. However, the developers made sacrifices for this experience to be a worthwhile masterpiece.
Nowadays, fans keep hearing more delays than updates, which can be upsetting and unsettling. It has been an odd few days for the developers, but there is a way to save the situation by giving the fans what they want.
Despite Being Stuck on the Previous Generation, Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Now the Fourth-Best-Selling Game of All Time

The gaming community had high hopes for Red Dead Redemption 2, and this game had its fair share of missed release dates. This has become a norm for major gaming developers working on larger-than-life projects. It shouldn’t be too surprising whenever a game’s release is moved up; however, fans waited 13 long years for the next major Grand Theft Auto entry.
While the recent announcement of the delay left fans irritated and for good reason, there is some good news that shouldn’t be ignored. The Red Dead Redemption prequel has now secured the number four spot of being the best-selling game of all time in a recent report. Granted, this game was released in 2018 and had a few years of a head start over recent releases, but it is impressive nonetheless.
Rockstar Games Could Use a Next-Gen Update as a Shield Amidst the GTA 6 Delay

In the last few months, trusted insiders have claimed that a next-gen port or remaster with upgrades for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and the Nintendo Switch 2 are on the way. This could be used to extinguish the flames and give the fans something to hold on to before the next major title from Rockstar Games.
Hi everyone,
— Rockstar Games (@RockstarGames) November 6, 2025
Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and… pic.twitter.com/yLX9KIiDzX
The longer the fans wait, there is a good chance that the hype will slowly disappear. To counter this, Rockstar Games could always give what the fans want, and that is a next-gen upgrade to Red Dead Redemption 2. It is a good way to gain goodwill and for fans to stay interested.
