Red Dead Redemption 2 is high on the list of games that deserved the 60 FPS treatment; however, it doesn’t seem to be a priority for the developers. While GTA 6 is still a year away, and the developers are focused on shipping the best game possible, the gaming community will need something to hold them over until then.
After months of rumors, some insiders claim that the studio has developed an updated version not only for the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 but also for the Nintendo Switch 2. While the developers have been radio silent about the possibilities of a remaster, one trusted insider is confident that this project is real and might be released sooner than expected.
Insiders Claim That an Updated Version of Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Coming Soon

While the base game looked phenomenal even on a base PlayStation 4 from 2013, the gaming community has been clamoring for an update since the current generation consoles have been shipped. Rockstar Games struck gold with Red Dead Redemption 2 and have raised the bar for what an immersive and open-world experience can be.
During an episode of the Nate the Hate Podcast, Nate said in full confidence that the rumored next-gen version of the Red Dead Redemption prequel is indeed coming this year and will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Around the 10:00 mark, Nate dropped a huge bombshell about the state of the Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster, and didn’t share any specifics as to when.
“Those rumors are true. Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting a next-gen update, and the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.”
Nate has built a reputation after a great track record of accurately reporting news before it was officially announced, and while it’s by no means a guarantee, it’s also not outside the realms of possibility with Rockstar Games’ recent pattern of remasters/remakes of their iconic franchises.
Perhaps the days of longing for an updated version are nearly over, and with the original game remastered for the first Nintendo Switch, it would be poetic to do the same for the prequel on the next-gen console.
