The bee puzzle is undoubtedly one of the most challenging puzzles ever featured in this survival horror series, but that’s not it. Once the protagonist solved the puzzle, a bee suddenly appeared to jump at him.
Compared to other undead enemies of the game, this bee is nothing, but its out-of-the-blue appearance often makes players scream.
6. Dollhouse Puzzle (Song of Horror)
Song of Horror is a scary survival-horror experience with several puzzles to complete. The most frightening part of the game is that it follows a cursed song that brings doom to anyone who listens to it.

5. The Hanged Man Puzzle (Silent Hill 2)
This Hanged Man puzzle is from the OG Silent Hill 2 game, and while this puzzle is in the remake version, it’s not as scary as it was in the original one. If you’ve played the 2001 original game, you must remember this hanged man puzzle. This one is confusing, challenging, and scary at the same time.
To begin with, the puzzle features six hanging corpses in the first room and six ropes in the second room. All these ropes correspond to the hanged men in the first room and pulling them frees each of them.
Once you enter, your task is to find and decode the clues and pull the ropes to free the innocent people. Five of them are guilty, and one is innocent. If players pull the wrong rope and free the guilty people, it will result in spawning monsters in the corridor.
4. The Generator Puzzle (Outlast)
Outlast is scary, and there’s no doubt about that. The psychological survival horror game takes players to an abandoned psychiatric hospital named Mount Massive Asylum, where players need to hide from the haunting patients and solve puzzles to progress through the story.
Almost the entire game is equally spooky, but when the game instructs players to turn on a series of generators, things incline to a different level. The first hurdle is to locate these generators by surpassing the haunting enemies, and next, whenever players turn on a generator, immediately they have to hide as at least one patient will come to find them. 3. Part 3: Into the Abyss Puzzle (Slender the Arrival)

This is one of the most nerve-wracking sections of the game, where the protagonist wakes up near a mine and soon finds out the only method to escape the location is to turn on the generator.
To solve this puzzle, Lauren has to find six generators and turn them on to activate the elevator. Aside from the generators being scattered randomly, there are more challenges in the puzzle. Throughout the time, you will find Slenderman lurking in the shadow and The Proxy chasing you more straightforwardly.
There’s no way you can deal with him. He will chase you at an incredibly high speed, and only the bright light from your flashlight can stun him for a few seconds. It is hard to survive if he attacks. This continuous chase and lurking of Slenderman in the background makes this puzzle a fear-inducing one.
2. Room of Sacrifice Puzzle (The Evil Within)
The Evil Within is undoubtedly one of the scariest survival horror games ever released on PS3. The game has clear references to adding features from other games of the same genre, but the storytelling method is undeniably unique and compelling. From the beginning, the game has several puzzles to solve, but none of them bring a cruel end like the Room of Sacrifice when you choose the wrong option.
Basically, this puzzle needs to be solved to leave the cave, and it requires players to place the correct body on the right altar. Observe the numbers for reference and decode the riddles to find the right path. However, if things go wrong, players will be impaled with spikes and get the most brutal end possible.
