One click and you're done. Thank you!
Phantom Blade Zero is taking its time introducing all the gameplay elements to you, but we’re getting there. By this point of the game, you’ll have just beaten Jagged Steel, The Frenzied Brute, and made your way up the hill and towards the village you’re supposed to save.
After interacting with the Outpost Courtyard Bell, you’ll come to an encampment surrounded by the Mandate, a sect determined to protect normal life and kill any Maskwalkers.
As you head up the hill behind this little village, you’ll be introduced to Forge, one of three sisters sent by Lady Inanis to help you on your journey. This will be your introduction in how to upgrade weapons in Phantom Blade Zero.
How to Upgrade Weapons in Phantom Blade Zero
While this is your first time, it’s not the only opportunity you’ll have to upgrade weapons in Phantom Blade Zero. You’ll have the opportunity to do so whenever you find Forge in an encampment throughout the game, or every time you find a bell. To upgrade your weapons, you’ll need to do a few things:
- Interact with Forge, selecting ‘Upgrade Weapons’.
- Select a weapon to upgrade.
- Have enough of the Upgrade Materials required for the upgrade itself. These differ from weapon to weapon, and the higher the level, the more you’ll need. You can find these items littered on the floor as you explore, or trade them from merchants.
- Hold X to upgrade the desired weapon.
Upgrading your weapons in Phantom Blade Zero is not permanent! You can press triangle to open up the Revert menu, which will allow you to revert the weapon back to Level 1, and in doing so refund any materials or Remnant Dust you’ve used in the meantime.
If you’re wondering why you should even bother upgrading your weapons in Phantom Blade Zero, well the answer is simple. With every weapon upgrade, you’ll get increased damage, more status effects, and improvements to the different special abilities each weapon has.
In short, you’d be handicapping yourself against the bigger, stronger, and fast enemies you fight as you progress through the game.
Improving and upgrading your weapons in Phantom Blade Zero isn’t difficult, but it requires you to be patient in unlocking the ability, and be good enough to explore the environment and find the materials needed to upgrade the weapon in question/
