Revealed back in June 2026 at Nintendo Direct, in what was somewhat of a mixed reception due to the graphical design choices, one of gaming’s most iconic franchises gets bigger with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo Switch 2 today.
Taking a new (and old) generation into well-treaded adventures with a new lick of paint is not always a good thing, with some remasters and remakes coming too quickly after the original, but it’s fair to say that as one of the best reviewed games of 2026, this isn’t the case for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
To stoke the proverbial nostalgia fires, with the gaming launching today, Nintendo has just released a new launch trailer showcasing even more of the game and what’s in store for gamers around the world.
While not a one-to-one remake of the iconic game that launched on Nintendo 64 back in 1998, with some changes being made for modernising purposes, and other for gameplay purposes, according to critics around the world, it still contains the heart and soul of what made the game so powerful, so impressive, and so important for so many players around the world.
In an interview with IGN said, Eiji Aunoma, franchise producer for Zelda said he “basically let the developers make whatever changes they genuinely felt were necessary.“, so it’ll make for an interesting wait to see if gamers feel the same as those who reviewed it. It’s also a next-gen remake that gamers have been clamouring for, for quite a while, to put it lightly.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is out now on Nintendo Switch 2.
