Are We Being Lied to By Marvel? Daredevil: Born Again Interview Could Be One Big Smokeshow After Show’s Opening

Daredevil: Born Again‘s opener came as a shocker to us after Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) sent a bullet through Foggy’s (Elden Henson) chest. Bullseye! Yes, Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter fired the shot. But wait, after just a couple of days, here comes another; that’s not Foggy’s end. But that makes sense after Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock in the series, believes that the character is “kind of the heartbeat of the MCU.

Brad Winderbaum, the head of streaming, television, and animation at Marvel Studios, was sitting with Brandon Davis and had a brief but exciting chat about the latest MCU show. There, he gave hints as to what is to come in Daredevil: Born Again season two, which is set to stream next year, though we still don’t know the exact date for it. However, that cannot exactly be true; let’s see how.

Episode one opened with the sad demise of Foggy after he celebrated with his friends Matt and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), but his fate was already decided, and we lost him within the first fifteen minutes. And it is following this incident that we saw him giving up the mask. Though this is going to be temporary, we don’t know when we’ll see him back fighting crime again.

Winderbaum, keeping the spoilers aside, said:

“Without going into spoiler territory, I will say that both Deborah and Elden are coming back for Season 2.”

Not just that, he believes these three characters are so closely knitted that we cannot imagine a Daredevil story without losing any of Murdock’s friends. He further went on to say that:

Matt, he had to struggle with his own internal demons in a way that only an event like that could bring about. It’s something that happens in the books. When you look at the source material, the cost of violence is something that drives him – and also challenges him. I will say, I see Karen and Foggy as being intrinsically tied to Matt. I don’t think there’s a Matt Murdock story without those two characters.

We don’t know in what capacity the creators will bring Foggy back, so there are a couple of possibilities. Either they are just teasing us: Foggy isn’t really dead, or maybe he will appear in flashbacks. If the latter is the case, then they might already have the material from pre-MCU seasons, so technically, he won’t be there. One thing is for certain: either death isn’t that permanent, or Brad Winderbaum is pulling everyone’s leg.

Daredevil: Born Again has simply begun with the MCU giving us a couple of episodes that aired on March 4, 2025. The next episode is scheduled to air on March 11, 2025. Marvel will adopt the same pattern for further episodes, except for numbers five and six, which will be released together on March 25, 2025.

UPDATE: With the release of the first season finished, it’s clear we may not have been fully lying, with Foggy’s death being the catalyst for the entire show.
