Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has swept across the world in a frenzy most studios would love to ‘suffer’, let alone a small, 30-something, first time developer like Sandfall Interactive.
With a voice cast boasting the likes of Ben Starr (The First Berserker: Khazan, Natural Six), Charlie Cox (Daredevil: Born Again), Jennifer English (Baldur’s Gate 3) and Andy Serkis (The Batman, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy), the game follows a group of volunteers brave enough to track down and attempt to thwart the Paintress, someone who annually decides to kill those below a certain age. With this age decreasing with alarming regularity, there’s not much time to succeed or fail, and you’ll be in for a rollercoaster of highs and lows.

It turns out that all that success may well have some drawbacks, as the developer is rushing to fix a good problem to have – they’ve ran out of copies. In a day and age where physical gaming is becoming something of a rarity, with it being actual news when games announce the fact they’ll have a physical release as some sort of major event, the news that a game is selling well, and well enough to sell out, should be a cause for celebration.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Announcement!
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to break the news to fans, Sandfall Interactive confirmed that physical editions of the game have sold out, however they are looking at various remedies to fix the problem, with their distribution partners also wading in to help.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has seemingly blown every other game of 2025 out of the water, with many a gamer’s water cooler talk being about the latest plot point they’ve reached, or how the game handles such dark and gloomy themes, all whilst arguably revitalising turn-based RPGs.
Hopefully Sandfall Interactive fix this problem quickly and we’ll be able to purchase our physical copy, but if you cant wait, then the digital stores will have to do. They can’t sell out there… can they?
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is out now, and available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
