EXCLUSIVE: Funko Fusion’s The Office Collab “100%” On Track for 2024 Release

Funko Fusion has had a good 2024 so far, with a release that met generally favorable reviews, a recent Wicked collab that further added to the furore behind the smash hit, and very soon, a hugely anticipated collab with NBC’s The Office!

Funko Fusion x The Office

A co-op platformer in the ilk of the LEGO games of old, Funko Fusion is a celebration of all things pop culture, coupled with the big, plastic head of the Funko brand, Including 22 IPs at launch, with more getting added as time goes on, the choice really is in the player’s hands as to which characters from which of their favorite franchises they want to take control of as they fight Freddy Funko.

Speaking to Variety back in October 2024, 10:10 Games officially announced the intention to release a collaboration with The Office (NBC’s US version) this year, and Arthur Parsons, Creative Director of Funko Fusion and Co-founder of 10:10 Games, spoke to us to update us on that.

When asked specifically if the expectation to release The Office this year was still on track, Parsons had this to say:

100%! It’s been terrific to see people’s reactions to some of the content we’ve been adding to the game, and the Office integration will be something else that should surprise and delight. We can’t wait to be able to reveal more for that one, and then see what players think of it. Really excited for that one to release.

With only a matter of weeks left in 2024, the upcoming DLC must be nearly complete if 10:10 Games hopes to keep to the promised release. Parsons was understandably coy about what the upcoming expansion is likely to include, even after I asked for them to include the Scranton Strangler, but he did give a ‘Parsons Promise’ and guarantee The Office fans would love the content!

During the same conversation, I asked Parsons about the chances of other Universal properties making an appearance in the game in the future, with the Fast and Furious franchise being the example I gave. Whilst he stopped short of actively confirming or denying one way or the other regarding this, he did go on to say:

If only it were that simple to get collaborations over the line, as with anything there are a million moving parts and pieces to every puzzle. We are still looking at what other fun activations we can get with the game, so let’s see what comes next year.

It’s Not So Easy Getting The Collabs Together

Whether we get to see Dom and Co. turn up in Funko Fusion is up in the air, but one thing is for certain, 10:10 Games are clearly all in to support and expand the game way into 2025! Parsons actually spoke about the biggest inclusion of this year, with the Wicked characters dropping in, out of nowhere, seemingly, but explained it was far from a knee-jerk reaction, and in fact, planned since the early days:

The Wicked collab had been on the cards for a while. Since the early days of the development of the game, it was something that had been mentioned quite a lot in our regular conversations with our partners at NBCU. Given the timings of the game release and the movie release, it wasn’t something we would have been able to get into the main game, as we wouldn’t want to have given any spoilers away for a movie that wasn’t out yet, but it was great to be able to get the main characters into the game so that fans of the movie can extend their engagement with it.

It’s an exciting time for fans of Funko and gamers with a love of platformers, especially with the plans Parsons and 10:10 Games have. We’re just like you, waiting for The Office characters to turn up, but in the meantime, we’ll be playing with our shiny, new Wicked characters!
