Gladiator 2 Looks to Have Continued the Trend Beetlejuice 2 Started

It has been a glorious year for blockbuster sequels after the release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and now with the release of Gladiator 2. What makes these films so interesting is that they have been released decades after their original movie, such as Gladiator 2, which was released 24 years after the original and still managed to fill theatres and receive such high plaudits from critics and fans alike.

After making movie fans wait 24 years for a sequel, it was quite a wonder as to whether or not the Gladiator sequel would hold up to the original, as there were plenty of moments in the original that still hold true, and are still discussed to this day, but from the numerous positive reviews it has received, this worry is no longer warranted.

Gladiator 2 Has Received a Glowing Review, Showing That It Is Never Too Late for a Sequel

With a powerhouse of a cast, it was no wonder that the film was a success as it brings plenty of well-known actors and actresses into the fold to create a masterpiece, but a good cast isn’t the only thing that makes a good film; the story itself is very compelling and builds upon the original movie in many ways.

Due to this mix of high-tier actors and epic story-telling, it is no wonder that Gladiator 2 has managed to receive such a high Rotten Tomato score, which at the time of writing is sitting at 71% Rotten Tomato score and 84% from the Popcornmeter, which is the new audience score.

This shows that just like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice which arrived in theaters this year with a resounding positive response, audiences aren’t always looking for a brand-new story or setting but can sometimes appreciate a classic setting, but with a brand-new twist.

Along with being able to continue the stories of these franchises, these sequels provide a whole new opportunity for the movie industry, as there are plenty of franchises that deserved a sequel but never received one, which could now have the opportunity.

There are plenty of examples that jump to mind, but the biggest issue is finding a franchise that would benefit from a sequel rather than feeling like a cash grab; luckily Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Gladiator 2 were the exceptions to this.
