The Ghost of Yotei is one of the few major titles releasing this year, and the gaming community is eager to see the improvements the developers made for this project. After coming off the heels of the first game, which was a critical and financial success, it is right to assume Sony Interactive Entertainment has high hopes for the sequel.

Right before the highly anticipated State of Play episode, Erika Ishii revealed how she prepped for the role of Atsu by completing the first game and teased new gameplay elements. There is no telling what new mechanics Atsu could do and how it will measure up to the original game.

Fans immediately fell in love with the combat mechanics in Ghost of Tsushima and how it felt to bend the samurai code. In this entry, it appears that Atsu is on the hunt for the Yotei Six, an outlaw group who wronged her before. It is another glorified tale of revenge and Sucker Punch Productions might have outdid itself by refining the gameplay.

Amidst the upcoming State of Play deep dive episode, the lead of Ghost of Yotei revealed she finished the first game and acquired the platinum trophy. All the while teasing how much the sequel has improved from the original.

The gameplay has been one of the highlights of Ghost of Tsushima, and the developers knew this was one area that should be at the top of their priorities for the sequel. Perhaps the upcoming State of Play with feature a first-look at the new weapons and tools shown in the original reveal trailer months ago.

Ghost of Yotei releases on October 2nd, 2025, exclusively on PS5.
