Insomniac Games Revealed New Gameplay for Marvel’s Wolverine, and It Is Bloody Fantastic

After years of waiting, fans have been given a much detailed look at Marvel’s Wolverine. As an original story centered around the fan-favorite Avenger and X-Man, the developers are not holding back and intend to give Logan the adventure and representation he deserves. This is a major departure from the much more family-friendly projects Insomniac Games has done with the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, and it is a step in the right direction.

The world is familiar with this mutant’s skill set and what he can do, but this is an opportunity to see Wolverine in a new light.

The developers at Insomniac Games have proven they have what it takes to bring these iconic superheroes from the comic book pages to an interactive experience. Fans have waited for news and updates about Marvel’s Wolverine since the reveal a few years ago, and the studio suffered a major setback after a massive leak. However, as seen in the recent State of Play, our patience has been rewarded.

Superheroes have long dominated the big screen, but Insomniac Games has a vision of a shared universe with different Marvel characters existing on the same Earth. Both the Spider-Men and Wolverine live on Earth-1048, and while some are skeptical about how the studio would manage Spider-Man’s less mature rating than Wolverine, the newest gameplay trailer proved they are not afraid to spill some blood.

The trailer revealed iconic locations, like Madripoor and the Canadian woods, and even Tokyo. The developers are using everything they can to develop an original story to dive deep into Wolverine’s origins and flesh out the world with other characters. Villains like Omega Red and Mystique made brief appearances, but this could be a tease for more iconic X-Men characters to appear in the game.

Marvel’s Wolverine will be released in Fall 2026, exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
