Split Fiction's bizzare level design on display.

Is Split Fiction on Game Pass?

Hazelight Studios’ Split Fiction has been quite the success story since its release earlier this month. There’s something very relatable about two writers trying to prevent their precious ideas from being stolen that has players teaming up with a friend and taking on increasingly bizarre levels and bosses, after all.

But it’s not all just clever Easter eggs and references. There’s a very poignant, insightful story underlining all of the action, with Mio and Zoe forming a friendship as they blaze a path through their own ideas, coming together to take on the Rader corporation while tackling their own inner demons.

Players on Xbox Series X|S might be wondering if they need to fork out the cash to pick up a copy for themselves, or simply wait for the game to hit Game Pass before they dive in. If you’re one of them, here’s what you need to know.

Split Fiction’s Game Pass Debut Could Be a While Away

Is Split Fiction on Game Pass? Short answer right now; no, but that may change in the future. Considering that Microsoft and publisher EA have a partnership where games on EA Play also make it to Game Pass, it could be a good idea to wait for Split Fiction to make its debut on Game Pass. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that it could take a while before that happens. It’s likely that Split Fiction hits Game Pass only towards the end of 2025 or maybe even early 2026 if Hazelight’s previous titles on the service are any indication. That could very well extend further considering how wildly popular the latest addition to its very unique co-op formula has become in recent times.

However, you only need one copy of the game to have your friend join in on the fun via the Friend Pass feature. If you just can’t wait to be a part of the action, it’s a good idea to pick up a copy of a title that is sure to have you replaying it for a long time to come. Perhaps you and your second player could ‘split’ the difference?
