Jason Isaacs Admits Harry Potter Character’s Terrible Parenting, And One Character You Didn’t Know He Played

The very moment Jason Isaacs’ Lucius Malfoy is introduced in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, anyone watching the film for the very first time can tell whose father he is. It’s not just the hair, but the way he speaks for the first time; the pride of the ‘pure-bloods’ is dripping from his personality. But he wasn’t there to show off his family’s class; he was there to tell the audience that Draco is just a product of loveless and prideful parenting.

In his latest interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where he appears on the publication’s Awards Chatter podcast, he tells the audience that:

My job wasn’t being in a franchise, my job was trying to explain to the audience why Draco was such a little s*** at school. He came from a loveless home, and I came from a long, unbroken chain of loveless parenting.

Tom Felton plays Draco Malfoy in films in the universally acclaimed franchise, and it is safe to say that both the father and son had a job, and they aced it. We hated them with all our hearts; that’s why we loved that acting. It’s sad we don’t get to see any of the characters we saw in the films returning to the Harry Potter series, but HBO Max is developing.

Jason Isaacs Played Another Role in Harry Potter that People Might Have Missed

Isaacs remained an antagonist throughout the Harry Potter films, although the Malfoy family finally came to their senses that they are on the losing side of the game, but there’s one main antagonist the actor played that many might have missed. He was the voice behind the legendary reptile Basilisk in the second film in the series. As you might already be thinking about how the creators pulled that off, Randy Thom, the film’s sound designer, explained in one interview that:

Because it’s a giant snake, but it’s also like a dragon — not many snakes have teeth like that. He had to hiss, he had to roar and there were times at the end when he was in pain.

Interestingly, he mixed his own voice in it, too. And we have to say that voice still hisses through us to this day despite the fact that the creature’s skeleton lies on the floor of the Chamber of Secrets beneath that bathroom.
