Moroi, the new title from Violent Saint, has finally made its way onto Steam with its official release today, and I was lucky enough to try Moroi before its release and see all the chaos that awaits players with the unique combat, bizarre characters, hidden messages, and just overall insanity that will have you questioning every decision you make.
Moroi Will Always Keep You Guessing With Each Level and Character You Encounter
During my time with Moroi, I continuously struggled to come up with an adequate term to describe the atmosphere that the game provided. To put it plainly, the best term I could come up with is that the developers are absolutely bonkers in the best way possible.
Throughout Moroi, you will continuously be tasked with solving puzzles that will slowly reveal the story that has been hidden from the main character. Whether it be providing sugar to a witch, helping a skeleton listen to his music again, or feeding an NPC’s arm to a human-eating machine, there are plenty of twists and turns that make you question what on earth is going on.

However, the puzzles aren’t the only things that can block your path as there are plenty of characters that I came across during my playthrough of Moroi with each being as insane as the last, as each character provided more and more backstory of the main character while also providing more information about the world that the game is set in.
Sadly, Moroi isn’t a simple walk in the park, however, as there are plenty of enemies that will attempt to stop you from discovering your past, as each enemy has a unique and gory design right down to each boss and their unique mechanics that provide their own challenge to overcome.
What makes Moroi even more interesting is the different locations and the secrets they hide, as there are plenty of beautifully crafted locations that will have the player exploring each area for lore as well as extra equipment to aid them on their journey, such as a plunger hidden in a toilet stall or a brain in a jar. there are plenty of secrets hidden within the Cosmic Engine that Moroi is set in.
There Are Some Challenges That Even a Good Story Can’t Overcome

During my time with Moroi, I was still playing on a pre-release build of the game, meaning that there were a few issues that could and did arise during my playthrough, but there was one glaring issue that did become rather tiresome during my playthrough.
Throughout my playthrough, I did find that combat was fun in many ways, with numerous different weapons to use, providing an ever-changing combat style. Unfortunately, I did come across an issue in which swapping weapons as well as equipment became very difficult, on some occasions, leaving me stuck on a weapon no matter how many times I attempted to swap. However, as stated above, this could be down to me being on a pre-release build.
But on a lighter note, the overall experience of Moroi was very well done, with no other issues arising during my time with the game, allowing me to enjoy the experience as a whole without worry.
Moroi

Summary
Overall, Moroi was a fun experience that kept me guessing throughout my entire playthrough while also having some engaging combat scenarios that never failed to keep me interested, even with the minor weapon swapping bugs.
