At the RGG Summit on September 24, developer RGG Studio officially unveiled Yakuza Kiwami 3, a remake of Yakuza 3 that many fans have long requested. The reveal follows a leak last week when a listing briefly appeared on the studio’s official website before being scrubbed.

The studio also revealed that Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, Yakuza Kiwami 1, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will also be remastered and available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 8 later this year.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 Will Include Recast Characters, a Story Expansion, and an English Dub

Three characters from the original game have been recast. Japanese actor Teruyuki Kagawa will now portray Go Hamazaki, replacing the original character model and voice actor from Yakuza 3, who also appeared in Yakuza 4. Another recast involves fan character Rikiya, now voiced by and likeness based on Show Kasamatsu.

The remake will support both English and Japanese dubbing. Returning English voices include Yong Yea as Kiryu, Matthew Mercer as Majima, and Bill Farmer as Date. On the Japanese side, Takaya Kuroda will reprise his role as Kiryu.

Perhaps the biggest addition is Dark Ties, a brand-new story expansion included with Kiwami 3. Players will step into the shoes of Yakuza 3’s main antagonist, Mine, in a prequel that explores how he rose in the underworld. It’s expected to be a similar expansion to the Majima Saga from Yakuza Kiwami 2.

The game is set to be released on February 11, 2026, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2, and the price will be $60 for the base version of the game, which also includes Dark Ties.

It’s likely that Yakuza 4 and Yakuza 5 will also receive the Kiwami remake treatment down the line. Meanwhile, RGG is working on new titles like Stranger Than Heaven (a brand new IP) and a new Virtua Fighter game. Like a Dragon 9 is also in development.
