If you’re struggling to defeat Jenny, the first day’s boss of a la mode’s Sorry We’re Closed, then look no more, because we’ll run you through a surefire strategy to make the gigantic rat boss regret ever trying to eat you.
Sorry We’re Closed harks back to classic survival horror games with its retro graphics, fixed camera angles and ‘stand and fight’ mechanics, and the boss fights are no different.
How to Get to Jenny
Before you can even begin to think about fighting Jenny, you’ll have to get to grips with what’s going on. You’ll spend the opening minutes of the game getting introduced to all the important characters, story setting, and a run through of tutorials surrounding the game’s mechanics.
Once you’ve entered the subway station, chasing your best friend Robyn, you’ll know you’re on your way to finding and fighting Jenny. As you explore the subway station, you’ll encounter memories of Jenny, as she comes to terms with her own curse. Similar to Michelle’s, she’s also touted to be the Duchess’ next lover, and faces her judgment in a particularly bloody way, in both a giving and taking manner.

As you explore and fight your way through the subway station, you’ll end up meeting up with Robyn, who will explain that you need to power up the train as to travel quickly between areas. To restore power, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for several items whilst you explore:
- Keyboard & Mouse – Found in a locker that you pry open with a screwdriver.
- ID Card – Found in the same room as a save point.
Take these to the main office, and you’ll be able to use them on the PC to restore power. Jumping on the train will then result in the final tutorial before encountering a new-looking Jenny.
How to Defeat Jenny on Day One
With the Duchess having bestowed her unusual version of a gift on Jenny, turning her from some a crazed axe-murderer into a giant, snapping Rat, in a move that puts even the likes of body-horror Tusk to shame.
Jenny the Rat Boss is as much a tutorial as any of the others that have preceded it, and shouldn’t prove too difficult for you, unless you’re on the highest difficulties, but the method for defeating her is entirely centred around the Heartbreaker mechanic you just learned about.
Using your pistol, charge up your Heartbreaker by successfully hitting Jenny’s weak points (revealed by using Michelle’s third eye). Once you’ve charged the Heartbreaker, use it with R1/RB, and take aim at one of Jenny’s three hearts. Once you hit with the Heartbreaker, Jenny will recoil and retreat, hurt by your damaging attack.
Quickly though, she will return, and try to attack you again with increased ferocity. Rinse and repeat the above three times:
- Using your pistol, charge the Heartbreaker with consecutive weak point shots, revealed by Michelle’s third eye.
- Once charged, use the Heartbreaker to deal severe damage, using R1/RB.
- Do this three times.
With that done, you’ll have defeated Jenny the Rat Boss and be close to the end of Day One.
