At the time of writing, we have a few more hours before the release of the most unique Soulslike on the market. During Jean Nguyen’s discussion with us, he compared it more to Sekiro and Black Myth: Wukong than Dark Souls, but did say the latter was a big inspiration as he grew up playing it. He also revealed the total length of the game, what completionists can expect, and the inclusion of a hugely requested feature in all games of the genre – Boss Rush Mode.
On the subject of length, Nguyen said:
“On average, based on around 30 play testers, I would say it’s around 7 hours depending on the player’s experience with Souls Like games.”
In a time where games are hundreds of hours long, with an unending list of things to do, shorter, more concise experiences like this are gratefully received. That said, he also followed on with the amount of content included, with fans of Boss Rush Modes especially going to be happy. When asked what there’s included for completionists, he said:
“Player’s will want to defeat all the mini bosses and main bosses in the game to unlock skills. Player’s can start a new game to max out different skills since you won’t be able to max out all the skills in a single game. There are also achievements to unlock and a boss rush mode that can be played after beating the game.”
With sixteen bosses currently, and the potential to add more in the future, it’ll be interesting to see just how quickly players will be able to get through them all.
