Featured in ‘For Our Future’, your first fight with a Sentinel will feel like something of a throwback to an earlier time. In my opinion, it’s easier than the earlier fight with Omega Red, but by the end of this guide, you’ll know exactly how to beat the Sentinel Prototype in Marvel’s Wolverine, and with relative ease.
How to Beat the Sentinel Prototype in Marvel’s Wolverine
The Sentinel Prototype boss fight is a two-phase fight; however, both are similar in nature. The first phase is inside a hangar, as you get jumped by the Sentinel Prototype after a chat with Trask. The Sentinel Prototype’s moveset is limited, but equally, the damage you do feels minimal.
Your first task is to remove an arm, and Marvel’s Wolverine does a good job of hiding what you actually need to do to get that done in this first phase. When it slams its arms down and leaves them sitting there open to attack, you might focus your damage on the hands. Don’t. Instead, attack the forearms.

You can lunge attack to cover distance when it attacks and rests, and then slash normally, and unleash skills as you see fit. You’ll also periodically be able to call on Mystique with R1, and she will stun the Sentinel Prototype, allowing a slightly longer period of attack. Once you’ve done enough damage to the arm, and the shielding has popped off, it’ll slam its arm down straight, and you’ll be able to climb it and, following a QTE, take off the arm.
Now follows the second phase, which is a little more manic, and with some more damaging attacks thrown at you. You’ll now be outside, and the Sentinel Prototype will take advantage of the extra space by sending barrages of missiles your way every now and then. These are simple enough to avoid; just get out of the marked zones at your feet. The laser eyes it sends are as simple as the first phase; just outrun and slide when necessary.
It does change up its physical attacks, though, with more combos thrown in, and a sweep attack that’ll wreck you if you’re not careful. Avoid when you can, and focus on the remaining arm, as removing that and repeating the first phase is your task here.
Once you’ve repeated it and done enough damage, Sabretooth will appear, screaming about getting into cover. Definitely do this, as the super laser from the Sentinel Prototype’s remaining hand will one-hit kill you. After this, resume your attack on the arm, and once you’ve done enough damage, you’ll once again be able to climb it; another cutscene will ensue, and you’ll then be done with the boss fight.
Make sure to use your skills; in my case, it was Tornado Spin and Drill that would do maximum damage in as little time as possible, and forget trying to parry; just dodge every attack, especially the forearm slams. And that is how you beat the Sentinel Prototype in Marvel’s Wolverine!
