You’ve made it to the Outpost! The village here is littered with people that can help and hinder you, and one such person is the Archer sat on the rooftop in the middle of it.
He’ll tell you about his former crew and their dastardly doings, and ask you to go and Purge the Sect, which will become your next Tale in Phantom Blade Zero.
Finding it and completing it are two entirely different matters though, so don’t worry, by the end of the guide, you’ll know where to go, what to do, and how to do it to complete the Purge the Sect Tale in Phantom Blade Zero.
How to Complete the Purge the Sect Tale in Phantom Blade Zero
Purge the Sect and Kill the Ruthless Archer Group
After you’ve spoken to the Archer on the rooftop, you’ll notice your map has a new marker for it. This is quite a distance away, and in true Phantom Blade Zero style, it’s also a winding road to get to it.
Before you can expect to get there, you’ll have to beat Peng Meng, The Axemaster, gaining you the Dread Axe and a new chain-breaking ability, and meet The Hunt, Hunter of the Order for a second (and then third) time, all before making it to the area where the former Archer disciples are.
You’ll end up crossing bridges, smashing chained walls, and meeting a particularly disturbed and panicked Mandate Disciple (near the Creek Valley Plains Entrance Bell) on your way, but you’ll know you’re going in the right direction once the cutscene shows The Hunt sweeping across a bridge, killing members of the Mandate with ease.
Keep going forward until you see a huge wooden scaffolding structure on your left, and in the same area, a couple of archers will pepper you with arrows whilst melee enemies try and kill you. Get rid of all of those, then head up the scaffolding structure using the ladder on the right, as it’ll give you the benefit of surprise.
Stealth kill who you can, and once you’ve gotten rid of the five or six enemies here, you’ll notice one final archer high above you overlooking you on the left.
Go up the hill, kill that one and you’ll receive a BlackStone Shard, and the Broken-String Bow. There’s a Bell close by which you can use to fast-travel back to the Outpost, as you’ll need to take this back to the Archer there to fix.
Heading Back to the Outpost
Make your way from the Outpost bell to the same place you found the Archer on the rooftop. Interact with him, and he’ll tell you the story of how he came to take in the Ruthless Archer group, and wonder how it came to all this. He’ll agree to fix the bow, which he then hands to you, and now you have the Feather Bow!
Just like the Dread Axe from the Axemaster, this is a Phantom Edge weapon, which means you’ll be able to use it in the environment even when it’s not equipped.

By now you’ll have seen multiple instances of red bow markers in the environment, which previously you couldn’t do anything about. With this Feather Bow, you’ll now be able to shoot at them, getting the rewards inside.
