Director Alex Garland is confirmed to be taking the helm for a live-action adaptation of a famous video game. Live-action adaptations are all the rage nowadays, especially now that most filmmakers and producers have cracked the code to reimagine something in earnest and escape the clutches of mediocre adaptations. Garland has proven that he is the right man for the job, and sources suggest he has one actor in mind to bring this project to life.

It would make sense for film directors to hire actors they have previously worked with, especially when they have shown much promise and talent. Alex Garland directed Kit Connor in Warfare, a retelling of a US Navy SEAL’s intense experience during the Iraq War. Sources suggest Garland is interested in bringing Connor back for another project with A24.

The pressure is high, especially since Elden Ring has built a loyal player base at this point. Garland is no stranger to the video game world and knows the franchise well enough to understand what is at stake. Connor is a promising actor, and his potential involvement in this project could do wonders for everyone involved.

Connor is a strong choice as the lead, but Alex Garland never shied away from being a video game enthusiast. Before A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment confirmed a live-action adaptation was greenlit, news of the Elden Ring movie was leaked with Garland’s name attached. Garland knows this story from the inside out and revealed he replayed the Shadow of the Erdtree multiple times.

The secret behind a good live-action video game adaptation is that the director must be a fan paired with great talent. Garland and Connor have proven that they make a good team in Warfare. This project could further solidify their gifts in their respective crafts and open more opportunities.
