The prospect of a live-action Elden Ring film is exciting, especially if rumors are to be believed about who is taking the helm. Filmmakers are now growing more confident about video game adaptations, and this could signify a new era for the genre.

According to the recently taken down post by Nexus, director Alex Garland is in talks to direct a film adaptation with A24. While the post is no longer around, there is a few supporting evidence to back up this claim. Insiders claim that Garland is in fact, having discussions to direct this project, and Bandai Namco Entertainment representatives acknowledged this recent turn of events and played coy ever since, not to mention that Garland is an avid Elden Ring fan and player, proven throughout the years, but specifically during a Reddit AMA below.

This film company is no stranger to video game adaptations, especially with the upcoming Death Stranding film gaining momentum after finding its director. Garland didn’t shy away from his love of Elden Ring and revealed he was on his sixth run for New Game Plus and lost track of how much time he invested exploring the Lands Between and the Land of Shadow.

Regardless of whether the news about an upcoming Elden Ring film with A24 is in fact in the works or not, Garland’s name is probably on the shortlist to direct this movie, if for no other reason than his love and knowledge of the franchise, and his eye for the bizarre with films like Annilihation under his belt.
