In words we never thought we’d write, GTA 6 is less than a month away! After many a couple of delays, a frankly ridiculously leak that is still somewhat ongoing, and a lot of mystery surrounding the game’s finer mechanics, story, and gameplay features, it’s nice to be able to say that.
Now, the next question on many gamers lips has been potentially answered, with the GTA 6 file size being potentially revealed in a tweet by X account @PlayStationSize. They get the info by datamining the PlayStation store, and have been right on numerous occasions over the years.
As shown in the tweet above, the reported GTA 6 file size is set to be a huge 210 GB, which if this reported GTA 6 file size is even close to correct, this’ll put it front-and-centre as the biggest game on PlayStation to date. Other noticeable install sizes are the likes of Call of Duty, Grand Turismo 7, Cyberpunk 2077, and the size alone could go a long way to explaining why Rockstar Games has decided against releasing a physical disc version of the game, with the box coming with a code inside instead.
GTA 6’s file size shouldn’t come as such a huge surprise to most gamers with the likely size and scope of one of, if not the biggest outright, games in history, with it being a cultural landmark moment. With Netflix’s exclusive 20-minute-first-look in August, it showcased the width and breadth of not only what you’d be able to do in the game, but the eye for details the studio has had for the title.
Preloading of GTA 6 starts November 12th, and while fans on PlayStation 5 now have some idea of what lies in wait for them, players on XBOX Series X|S will have to wait a little longer.
GTA 6 releases on November 19th on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S, with a PC version reportedly releasing at a later date.
