Valor Mortis, the latest release from One More Level, has hit the ground running since its release, with it being announced to have sold enough to break even already.
Like a lot of developers and studios, it’s now hitting Halloween-season in full swing, with its latest patch looking to amp-up the horror of the Napeleonic-centric-story, with bug fixes, new finishers and more included. Oh, and some themed skins!
The highlight of the Halloween patch, besides the new themed skins, is the fixes for FPS stuttering some players have been reporting since launch, a trophy/achievement fix for unfortunate players dying at the hands of a boss at the same time as killing them, and a few other much-needed fixes.
Valor Mortis Full Halloween Update Notes

- New weapon skins for melee and ranged weapons
- New critical attacks for the Rapier and Saber
Quality of Life
- Improvements to help mitigate stuttering and improve FPS, for PC players, you may need to recreate your shader cache.
- Fixed an edge case where some players who died at the same time as bosses may have been missing the achievements/trophies for them. These should now unlock when pressing Continue on the main menu.
- Fixed an issue in The Quarry on Chapter 2 where players could get stuck when trying to mantle onto the tower
- Tweaked a respawn position in Chapter 2 so that players don’t get stuck in an infinite falling loop if they knocked out a platform while standing on it
- Fixed a few areas across the game where players could wedge themselves into places and get stuck
- Fixed a bug that could cause players to get stuck in the Options menu
- Fixed a bug where in Chapter 5, some voiceover and subtitles could break if the player fast traveled at the wrong time
- Fixed an issue where the mine cart might not save correctly when finishing the sequence in Chapter 4
- Adjusted the outdated drivers popup to now show up on handhelds that may have the latest driver set
- Fixed a bug where the player’s arms could detach on certain critical attacks
- Fixed a bug where the camera could reset incorrectly after using the Pull ability
A range of bug fixes was also announced for quests, story moments and the like, but they’ve not been included here as to avoid spoilers for players.
It likely won’t be the final update from the studio for the game, unlike that of the recent Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced patch, which is confirmed to be the final one for the game, despite huge sales and fan positivity.
