Stupid Never Dies, the roguelike dungeon crawler with a zombie bite dropped earlier this month, with us saying in our review, “each of the characters in Stupid Never Dies is a brilliantly put together combination of character design, animation, acting and dialogue writing. Individual and interesting all in their own right.“, and it’s fair to say a lot of time, thought, and care went into the final product, with a huge amount of systems, mechanics, and gameplay on offer in the title.
While not the be-all of a game’s performance, Stupid Never Dies has faltered on Steam, with a peak number of players hitting 399 on the 24th October, which is surprising considering the niche and unique approach to a somewhat tried-and-tested genre.
We had a brief chat with GPTRACK50 President and Stupid Never Dies Executive Producer, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, about the game and the future for both him and the title. When asked what was next for him and the title going forward, he said:
“Iām planning to create a new action game. I think whether this [Stupid Never Dies] can be a franchise will depend on how players respond to the game.“
The number of sales needed for the title to deserve a sequel is unknown, but it may not be likely if the above numbers are any indicator, but the news of a new action game from the man involved with iconic franchises like Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, and Devil May Cry from their inception should be enough to leave any gamer excited.
Stupid Never Dies is out now on PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC.
