“Ask Capcom you idiot”: Okami Sequel Director Hideki Kamiya Goes In Hard At Devil May Cry Fan

Infamous game design and Okami sequel director Hideki Kamiya takes no prisoners on X (formerly known as Twitter), and it’s further been proven by an incredibly blunt, if not equally hilarious clapback at one innocent fan’s Devil May Cry 6 question.

Any gamer worth their salt will know of Hideki Kamiya, the man responsible for a large part of the original Resident Evil’s charm, the creator of the Devil May Cry franchise (originally intended to be Resident Evil 4), and of course Okami, among others.

With the Okami sequel getting announced at The Game Awards this year, Hideki Kamiya has been in the limelight a little more than normal, and some fans have been taking the opportunity to ask him some questions, including one very misguided fan.

With the fan asking after an update on a new entry in the Devil May Cry franchise, Kamiya wasted no time in telling him to “Ask Capcom you idiot” (translated with X’s Google Translate function). Such a seemingly heavy-handed approach may be surprising, but as Kamiya hasn’t been at Capcom for years at this point, and has since made plenty of other games, it’s easy to see why he may be frustrated.

This is far from the first time Kamiya has been in the limelight for his treatment of his fans though, with a cursory glance through his X timeline showing his rants, insults, and tirades aimed at fans a semi-regular occurrence, regardless of the person’s intent on the receiving end.

Capcom has been completely radio silent on any more Devil May Cry games since the 5th installment dropped in 2019. After five years and still no indication of where the franchise is heading, it’s understandable of the fan asking for some news, even if they clearly weren’t aware Hideki Kamiya is no longer involved.
