To begin, we will talk about some of the already released titles that are bringing updates to their games that were announced during The Game Awards 2024, one of which being Helldivers 2 and its next free update, Omens of Tyranny.

This update is a long time coming, as it finally brings the Illuminate into the fray after many months of being teased. Along with the Illuminate making their entrance into the game, players will also visit a completely unique biome, as players can now explore some of Super Earth’s colonies, filling the map with a more urban style showing how the war is getting closer to home.

Along with this update, a brand-new fast-recon vehicle, or FRV, has also been released for Helldivers 2, allowing players to finally drive around the planets, spreading managed democracy at a faster pace.

Even though it wasn’t announced during The Game Awards 2024, it wouldn’t be right to mention all of these updates to Helldivers 2 without mentioning the new warbond that has made its way onto the game titled Urban Legends, providing players with a whole new set of weapons, armor, and more to unlock.

This update is a part of the new story that is taking place within Warframe and has been in the works for a very long time, it has finally made its way onto the title as it was announced that the update would go live on December 13th, the day after The Game Awards 2024.

Wuthering Waves has already been released on PC since May 22nd, 2024, and has managed to receive a lot of positive responses from the gaming community as it expanded on the gameplay mechanics that made games from Hoyoverse so compelling, but now it is taking a step away from PC and broadening its horizons.

During a trailer released at The Game Awards 2024, a release date was announced for Wuthering Waves making its way onto the PlayStation 5 console along with new content that will be released at the same time.

This release date will be January 2nd, 2025, and it will bring a brand-new location and new mechanics into the title that will change how players see the game and will hopefully bring together the vision the Kuro Games has for the title.

With one of the most meta trailers that have been released for many years, The Outer Worlds 2 has been announced during The Game Awards 2024, revealing plenty of locations, characters, and more that led to one of the most entertaining announcements of the event.

Unfortunately, there is still no set release date for The Outer Worlds 2, but it has now been declared that there is an aim for the title to be released within 2025 and will maintain what made the original game so fun and interesting, right down to the chaotic combat and character interactions.

Project Century

At the time of writing, Project Century is only a codename for a project that is currently being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku, the developers behind Yakuza/Like a Dragon, and it looks like it is taking its new title back to its routes.

During the trailer, gamers witnessed what can only be described as a gory mess of violence featuring some of the classic combat that made the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise famous in the past, but with a more realistic take on the combat of the generation; in other words, don’t be expecting a character to spin on their head, kicking enemies like a human Beyblade.

Due to this project still being in development, there has been no release date set in stone, but with the short trailer that was shown during The Game Awards, many gamers are eagerly awaiting this return to form from Ryu Ga Gotoku.

Borderlands 4

The Game Awards 2024 brought with it a trailer for the upcoming Borderlands 4 that revealed plenty of new information that has gamers begging for a release date as it revealed the 4 playable characters that gamers will be able to choose from.

Along with the playable characters, there was also a small tease regarding the situation that is taking place within this upcoming game, as it looks like players will be caught in a war between two factions that are potentially fighting for a vault on a mysterious planet.

Throughout the trailer, we can see plenty of different locations, weapons, and even vehicles that will be available within the game, and it brings high hopes for fans of the franchise as there looks to be the usual bounty of collectible items for players to discover.

Dying Light: The Beast

After the rather poor reception that Dying Light 2 received, it was understandable that Dying Light: The Beast had to have some amazing features to make it stand out and bring the franchise back to what made it amazing in the first place, and thanks to the trailer that was revealed during The Game Awards, we can see that Techland took the notes on board.

With a short tease of the game’s story along with a few gameplay moments that show the wall running, drop kicking, and zombie killing are back to their former glory. Gamers now have high hopes for this title to finally do what Dying Light 2 should have done.

At the time of writing, there is no set release date for the title; however, it has been teased that the game is aiming for a Summer 2025 release date, but that is subject to change as development progresses.

Crimson Desert

As one of the last trailers of the event, Crimson Desert took the show away, teasing even more gameplay, locations, and combat that will be coming with the game once it finally releases in 2025.

This trailer showed off how large of a project Crimson Desert is while revealing how graphically demanding the game will be once it finally releases.

Similar to Dying Light: The Beast and many of the games that have been revealed during The Game Awards 2024, this title is still awaiting a set release date but has received a late 2025 release window that the developers are looking to aim for, but with such an ambitious project, this title may still get delayed in the future.

Elden Ring Nightreign

This announcement was probably the most surprising announcement from The Game Awards 2024 as no one saw it coming Elden Ring Nightreign was announced with one of the most exciting trailers of the event as it revealed all sorts of combat, locations, and enemies that players will encounter in this new title.

Throughout the trailer, we can see all kinds of different locations that are familiar to Elden Ring players, but what makes this trailer so unique is that bosses from other Soulsborne titles have also made their way into this title as it seems that players will have to battle their way through familiar enemies and bosses that made their lives a living hell in the past, but this time, with friends.

After the title was revealed through its trailer, an update was revealed on the official website for the title revealing that this will be a roguelike title that will allow players to pick from certain classes to take on challenges, enemies, and bosses over a set amount of days, inviting a new challenge for players who have grown weary of taking on the bosses in their own games.

Naughty Dog came in swinging with its big reveal of its upcoming IP that has been in development for some time as Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was announced during The Game Awards with a short but sweet in-engine trailer that gave us a small peak into the universe we will soon be exploring.

With plenty of big names working on the cast, some of which we have seen before within Naughty Dog’s IP it looks to be a big show for fans of the developer as they are looking to keep their style of using motion capture to tell their empowering and emotional stories.

Unfortunately, for a game as anticipated as this, there is no set release date as Naughty Dog are understandably taking its time to complete the project in its entirety to ensure that the fan-base are not let down upon release.

Hazelight made its appearance at The Game Awards 2024 and made a huge bang with its announcement of its next co-op title, Split Fiction, which will be coming to players in March 2025.

Throughout the trailer, Split Fiction hits all kinds of tick boxes as it bounces from different genres to the point that players can barely keep track of what they are even watching at some points, providing one of the best trailers of the event.

After numerous years of waiting for a new game from Hazelight, Split Fiction is a big positive for fans of the developer, as this looks to be a culmination of their older projects and cranked up to the highest level possible to bring one of the best experiences possible for the gaming community.

The Witcher 4

The final game announcement that stood out within The Game Awards 2024 was the announcement of The Witcher 4 right from the start of the event it took gamers by surprise as a small teaser trailer revealed that Ciri would be the main protagonist of the story leaving Geralt in the past, or at least from what we can see.

During this trailer, we can see that this may still be the early stages of Ciri becoming a Witcher as she is still learning how to take on the numerous monsters that lurk in the darkened corners of the world, but we can clearly see that she can handle herself just as well as Geralt who has also been seen in early trailers struggling to fight the monsters that he is hunting.

Even during this trailer, we can see that the story will have a lot of impacting moments for Ciri as she battles the evil of the world whether they be monster or human, but that is what makes The Witcher franchise special and it is safe to say that the fan-base is ready to jump back into this franchise when it releases sometime in the future.
