CD Projekt Red’s Latest Cyberpunk 2077 News Has RPG Fans Heartbroken: “That’s super disappointing”

The gaming community had a rough experience with Cyberpunk 2077 when it launched in 2020, and CD Projekt Red had hell to pay for the buggy release after years of build-up and anticipation. Constant crashing and inconsistent performance issues on previous-generation hardware made fans quit which is unsurprising. A few years later, Cyberpunk 2077 can now be played at a stable rate and fans are ecstatic.

The game has been patched and runs smoothly on current-generation gaming machines like the base PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and modest gaming PC rigs. Amidst the release of the PlayStation 5 Pro, it would make sense for the player base to wonder if the developers will be releasing a patch and it seems like it is not a priority for CD Projekt Red.

The PlayStation 5 Pro was just released and it could do whatever a base or slim model can but better in every way. With the extra horsepower, some games can look better and run smoother than they ever did and fans wanted Cyberpunk 2077 to take advantage of the boost in power. Unfortunately, the game developers snuffed the hopes of a PS5 Pro patch which did not sit well with some fans.

It is a shame to see Cyberpunk 2077 fans be denied a PS5 Pro-enhanced version that could have elevated their gaming experience. The base version ran horribly on previous-generation hardware and this could have been one step closer to the game developers’s original vision for the project.

On the other hand, the gaming community can consider this a sign that CD Projekt Red has moved on to its next major project. Perhaps the developers are satisfied with the game’s current condition and are confident that the PS5 Pro can run the game smoothly and use brute force to improve certain areas. Other games without a PS5 Pro patch such as Final Fantasy 16 ran better and Cyberpunk 2077 could reap the same benefits.

The gaming community’s disappointment is valid; however, the game developers must have reconsidered all their options before making this decision. Perhaps CD Projekt Red will have a change of heart and shadow drop a patch for Cyberpunk 2077 out of nowhere, and give Night City the next-gen aesthetic, performance, and feel it deserves.
