Being weird is nothing new to Remedy Studios, as is evidenced by its recent releases in the first Control, and the more recent Alan Wake 2. The upcoming Control Resonant looks set to continue that trend in spades, if any of the marketing is anything to go by. Mold enemies, a new protagonist, a city in chaos and a gravity shifting mechanic that has to be seen to be believed, and that’s just what we know about.

Remedy Studios’ weirdness came to the fore in Alan Wake 2, with the ‘We Sing’ moment that had our favourite trapped protagonist singing and dancing in a meta moment that left fans as perplexed as they were thrilled, but what of the Control Resonant?

During my chat with Senior Level Designer Arhi Makkonen at Gamescom 2026, I had to ask if there was any moments close to the viral moment, which became more than a fan favourite of the title, and his answer didn’t disappoint:

We have so many cool moments right now, and we are kind of trying to figure out what’s going to be the fan favourite. I don’t know, because we don’t have that kind of like, ‘this definitely is because people have a problem with this’ or this or this. I think some people are going to like that. So I really want to see what the people are going to raise up. and that’s going to be the set piece of their favourite.

In a game so drastically different to Alan Wake 2 in genre, it’s interesting to know exactly what narrative and gameplay moments Makkonen could be referring to, especially with what he followed on to say:

There’s multiple moments which might spark up that kind of excitement for people. I think that’s important to say that with the open ended, it doesn’t just mean that we have all sorts of great set pieces and more linear sequences, and a lot of deep narrative moments and all that. That’s all in there, what you want to see in the Control game. On top of that, the game is just more interesting to explore.

Multiple moments that rival Alan Wake 2’s ‘We Sing’ viral moment makes it sound like we’ll all be chatting about Control Resonant for a long time to come. What they may be is anyone’s guess, and as proven in the aforementioned moment in Alan Wake 2, really could be anything and anywhere.

Control Resonant releases on September 24th on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC.
