Daredevil: Born Again Includes Incredibly Bittersweet Moment for Call of Duty Fans

As important as it is for Marvel fans, Daredevil: Born Again is as important for the Call of Duty fandom. It includes the return of Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), and more. It’s a blast for Marvelites.

One of the villains of the show is White Tiger, played by Kamar de los Reyes. Now if you aren’t aware of this name, you may know the actor better by the character he played; Raul Menendez from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. I can still feel the menacing but charming look on me every time he appears on the screen, even now, all these years later.

Kamar de los Reyes Will Appear as White Tiger in Daredevil: Born Again

Maybe some are aware of this already but for those who don’t know, this will be the last posthumous appearance of the actor. Kamar de los Reyes also appeared as Barranca in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in a posthumous appearance in 2024. While he is known for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, he has appeared in a number of games in the series, including Black Ops 4, Vanguard, and Call of Duty: Mobile.

At the 1:35 minute mark in the Daredevil: Born Again trailer, we can see him adjusting the White Tiger mask and then it doesn’t appear for the rest of it. There are different versions of the character in Marvel as it runs in the lineage; just like Black Panther, Kamar is likely playing the Hector Ayala version, who first took this mantle.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is often compared to Avatar, commercially speaking, as it garnered $1 billion in 15 days. From a mix of nostalgia, it pulled from the prequel to the modern warfare setting, everything was there. And then there were characters like Mike Harper (Michael Rooker), Alex Mason (Sam Worthington), Frank Woods (James C. Burns), and more. But it was the Kamar de los Reyes’ Raul Menedez who came in as the feared megalomaniac, becoming an obstacle the best of men couldn’t cross and was not only a highlight of the Black Ops franchise but as a series-high villain.

Other than Black Ops 2, he also appeared as Ryan Caradine in the American drama series Rookie, and Ferdinand in The Tempest, where he shared the screen with Patrick Stewart. Like Raul Menendez, Kamar was indeed a tough guy whom no one could defeat, but after his battle with cancer, he unfortunately died on December 24, 2023. And we still miss him.

Daredevil: Born Again will air its first episode on March 4, 2025, on Disney Plus.
