Marvel Rivals isn’t shying away from spoiling its player base after the developers unveiled the newest skin inspired by a different corner of the multiverse. While it is not uncommon to see certain versions of characters appear in alternate realities, NetEase Games takes the crown for seamlessly connecting the dots through cosmetics.
The Multiverse Is Real in Marvel Rivals

In celebration of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to the PC platform, NetEase Games’ developers thought it was the perfect time to include the Advanced Suit 2.0 as a cosmetic item for Spider-Man. Marvel Rivals has been growing steadily, and aside from the impressive combat, the players are interested in the cosmetics.
While it would make sense to take the outfits from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the developers took the opportunity to canonize one side mission to prove that everything is connected.

While it may not mean much to the average player, adding the Advanced Suit 2.0 into Spider-Man’s extensive wardrobe is compelling evidence of variants popping in from one Earth to another. Players who have finished the side quest in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feel rewarded knowing that their scavenger hunt to collect all Spider-Bots didn’t go to waste and that the developers are establishing a shared multiverse across both games.
Insomniac Games dipped its toes in the multiverse craze after including a secret side quest in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Peter Parker and Miles Morales collect hidden Spider-Bots across all of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, which rewards players with a cutscene into Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and now, thanks to this new suit in Marvel Rivals links to NetEase Games’ superhero shooter as well. Add in the fact that Yuri Lowenthal voices both versions of the character, and we have even more evidence of the link.
This arguably confirms the canonization of the mission and should excite fans of Insomniac Games’ single-player franchise, as it could point to a further crossover in the third installment. Whether this comes to pass is unknown yet, but for now, we can continue to play as our favorite webhead in Marvel Rivals.
