Fortnite has been on a winning streak of late, with new game modes like Fortnite OG, Ballistic, and more added, a new movement system, and a new map. More than just a little bit of content for players, that’s for sure, and with Chapter 6, Season 1 well underway, it feels like a new experience for many.
However, it looks like that streak has come to an end, with Epic Games’ managing to fumble the ball pretty massively with a Fortnite update that fans are almost universally hating.
Fortnite Quest Update is a Miss

With the most recent UI update came a massive change to how players can view the quests both in-game and in the main menu, many are pointing out the same issues with the in-game version. In a twitch shooter like Fortnite, not only is time an important factor, but so is your ability to react, and checking quests just made that so much harder.
The overwhelming feeling seems to be that Epic Games’ missed with this update, at least from the perspective of the quest menu, with K0KA42 saying “If I’m in the middle of a game, with people potentially shooting at me, I don’t want to have to open a menu, then open another menu, then look around for relevant quest info. So annoying. How did they manage to make an even worse user experience?”, and another user saying, “I hate it so much I miss the old UI”.
Whether Epic Games decide to revert the UI update is unknown, and frankly, unlikely, but the outcry against it is likely to warrant some sort of reaction. The developer has never been shy about nerfing new mechanics that players hate (last season’s vehicles for one), and a tweak to the in-game quest UI should be enough to placate, but for now, quests just became harder to complete in Fortnite, and it was entirely preventable.
