The Blood of Dawnwalker Release Date

The Blood of Dawnwalker release date is not currently known, although Rebel Wolves have promised a gameplay reveal in ‘Summer 2025’, which many assume would be at Summer Games Fest, maybe we’ll get at least a release window then? There is an outside chance the game will drop at the end of 2025, but a 2026 release is much more likely, considering the promised scale of the game.

Story

The Black Death isn’t the only plague that worries the peasants and Lords of the time, as a different and more violent enemy reveals itself. The Blood of Dawnwalker is set in an alternative 14th century, where the traditional hierarchy has been overthrown by a group of powerful vampires.

You’ll play as Coen, a Dawnwalker capable of horrifying abilities, neither fully human nor vampire, but a bit of both, as he’s charged with saving his family in whatever way possible, however possible. Allies may not be whom you’d think though, and neither the enemies, as you’ll call on the unexpected to help throughout.

Gameplay

A full gameplay reveal is scheduled for Summer 2025, but at the end of the trailer (shown below) a brief bit of gameplay could be seen. From standard melee combat involving swords, daggers, etc, it looks like we’ll get to use Coen’s otherworldly abilities in super strength, a smoke-like movement, and more.

No doubt we’ll be able to upgrade these abilities too, and with the inevitable variety of skills, this is where we’ll make Coen our own character. With the devs in charge, expect spells, swordplay, and supernatural elements to play into the gameplay as a bare minimum.

The Blood of Dawnwalker promises to be a big game from Rebel Wolves, and if their pedigree is anything to go on with the developers heavily involved in The Witcher franchise, there will be a huge array of characters to meet, help, fight, and kill. These are just some of those:

  • Coen – Voiced by Will de Renzy-Martin (Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2) is the protagonist of The Blood of Dawnwalker, heavily featuring in the reveal trailer. The oldest of four siblings, Coen worked in the nearby silver mines from a young age. Unable to fulfill his many fantasies of adventure due to his family obligations, he expected a normal life, until he gained vampiric powers and gave him the freedom he desperately craved, but at a heavy price.
  • Brencis – Voiced by Andrew James Spooner (Metaphor: ReFantazio) is a vampire hundreds of years old at the time we meet him, he was once a Roman soldier back in AD 131, destined to be so much more than what he became, at least at first glance. A Senator in the Roman Empire, everything changed when he was turned into a vampire, falling to the bottom and ready to work his way to the top of his new environment.
  • Bakir – A vampire that was already beyond humanity before being turned, Bakir pillaged, burned, plundered, murdered, and more for years before finding himself a vampire. Having to hide for all these years has left him even more resentful, dangerous, and bloodthirsty, and now he wants to be the center of attention once more, ready to resume his tirade of terror.
  • Ambrus – Another of Brencis’ brood, Ambrus is a recently turned vampire, eager to prove his worth after years of humiliation, pain, and torment as a lowly human peasant. Now, adorned in the finest garments and perfectly placed hair, there’s no limit or line he won’t cross in a bid to seek revenge against a world that isn’t ready for the carnage about to come.
  • Xanthe – A being ‘older than seems possible’, Xanthe was once a priestess on a long-forgotten Greek island she barely, if at all, remembers. Mind and body ravaged by time, she has all the signs of being mad, when in fact she knows more than anyone else could hope to about the predicament ahead. Between her muttering and hearing voices, perhaps she’ll tell us some of it.

Platforms

The Blood of Dawnwalker is confirmed to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Multiplayer

There is no multiplayer component expected to be included, with the game touted as a single-player sandbox adventure.
