As you progress through The Relic: First Guardian, you will eventually come across the small town of Edens, where you will come across enemies like Mortum, the Twisted One, and Druger, Protector of Edens, for whom we have also written a guide in case you have missed them.
When it comes to these two bosses, Mortum, the Twisted One, is probably the most unique enemy you will have fought within The Relic: First Guardian, as the only way this boss can be described is as an amalgam of human bodies brought together in an attempt to devour the town and all those who reside within.
How to Find Mortum, the Twisted One in The Relic: First Guardian
Similar to Druger, Protector of Edens, this next boss can be found within the town of Edens past the said previous boss. In order to find Mortum, the Twisted One, you will have to venture further into Edens by following the rather linear path as you explore the various houses that hold loot and slaughter the monsters that have destroyed this once quiet town.
If you are looking to find Mortum from Druger’s boss arena, the simplest path you can take is by exiting Druger’s arena and taking a left, progressing forward until you eventually reach a barn. As you reach this barn, you should turn left and follow the road until you reach a cottage directly ahead of you.
Before you get too close to the cottage, there will be a pathway to the left that will guide you towards the next Tibelle’s Blessing that helps to indicate that Mortum is nearby. After you activate this blessing, you will need to turn around, and there will be a pathway leading to an open area that is home to Mortum, the Twisted One, allowing you to begin your next boss encounter.
How to Beat Mortum, the Twisted One
Now that you have managed to find Mortum, the Twisted One, it is time to begin the boss fight with this abomination. As you approach Mortum, just like many of the other bosses within The Relic: First Guardian, you will need to be prepared, as he will begin the fight with a powerful introductory attack by jumping into the air and slamming what can only be described as his arm down upon you before doing a small spin and slamming it once again.
As a warning, one of the threats that you will likely face throughout this battle is that whenever Mortum hits the player, he is able to inflict the poison status on the player, dealing a large amount of damage if you do not have an item to alleviate said status effect before it’s too late.
A new mechanic that is special to this boss is that Mortum is able to tear parts of his body off himself in order to throw them towards the player in the form of fleshy blobs. Although these blobs aren’t overly threatening on their own, the various effects and repercussions they can cause can be incredibly dangerous.
When it comes to these blobs, there are two situations they can generate that will put the player on the back foot in this fight, the first being that as it is thrown, it will generate a cloud of poison gas around it that will accumulate on the player and will stay long after the blob has hit the ground.
The only way to remove this poison cloud is by attacking said blob to destroy it, which, in our experience, took a single hit, but the problem with doing this was that it then spawned a small Brutal that you would then have to fight alongside the boss.

Either way you deal with these blobs, you will be at a threat, as you can either allow the boss to slowly fill the arena with blobs that emit poison, dealing constant damage to you, or you run the risk of attacking these blobs and defeating the enemies that spawn from them. No matter what, there are a lot of pros and cons for both scenarios.
In terms of attacks, Mortum has a large variety of attacks that will cause distress to players if they are not prepared for them. The first is the 5-hit combo that he employs, in which he swings his arm, slamming it into the player 4 times before finishing the combo with an unblockable attack with one final slam.
Another combo is when Mortum does a small attack with his smaller, more normal left hand before following through with his larger arm that gets stuck in the ground. Now that the arm is stuck, Mortum will jerk around slightly before emitting a puff of poisonous gas around himself.
A rather obnoxious combo that Mortum takes advantage of during this boss fight is that he swipes both of his arms across the arena floor in a rather wide arc in order to catch the player off guard a couple of times before raising his right arm into the air and walking towards the player. What makes this attack challenging is simply because it breaks down your expectations and makes you think you’re ready when you’re not.
One of the final combos that the boss will use against you that is a large threat is when he combines both of his arms above his head before slamming both of them down upon you, dealing devastating damage to you. The biggest threat of this combo is that Mortum will do two simple smashes with his arms before finally completing the combo with another unblockable attack of him doing a large slam with his arms.
Now that you know the different attacks that this boss will throw your way, you have all the tools you need in order to take him on and win, and if you do so, these are the rewards that await you:

After defeating Mortum, if you have progressed his specific event by finding a group of survivors, you will find said survivors just outside the arena waiting for you, as they are grateful you defeated this monster to allow them to search for the man’s wife.
