By this point, you’ve spent a lot of time in The Relic: First Guardian, and you’ve probably beaten quite a few bosses. Be it the multi-sided Mog, the double duo of SPOILER and Looter Borja, or maybe you’ve just been ambling around the countryside of the Faded Mist Forest.
Well, now you’re up against yet another cave dwelling Brutal, this time though, it’s Philip, the One Who Lost His Peace. We’ll show you exactly how to beat Philip in The Relic: First Guardian, and how to beat him easily.
How to Find Philip, The One Who Lost His Peace in The Relic: First Guardian
A massive Behemoth of a man, Philip is unmissable once you finally find him. He’s located towards the bottom of the opening area in The Relic: First Guardian, in a cave hidden away. Called The Crimson Cave, you’ll initially find this with a note outside that describes quite the harrowing tale, and one that’ll kick-start a new Event: Ill Tidings from Edens, where you’ll be required to take the letter to a priest nearby. You can either do exactly that, or let your curious side of you win over and walk into The Crimson Cave in front of you, and face Philip, The One Who Lost His Peace.

How to Beat Philip, The One Who Lost His Peace
As mentioned, Philip is a huge man. A now tranformed Brutal, he wields a massive hammer that he swings in huge circles, hoping to get even a glancing blow against you.
As with many other bosses fights, as soon as you enter the arena, he’ll advance towards you. Menacingly and slowly, you’ll have time to throw an elemental attack at him, and, useful tip, if you wait for his attack animation to begin, he can’t dodge out of the way of it. Same tactic goes for throwing Shard of Ember, which blow up and quickly instill burn on him, if timed right.
If you’re trying to figure out how to beat Philip, well that comes in two phases. The first is figuring out his simple, yet devastating combos. He’ll run towards you, swing twice, jump in the air, slam down, and then begin a new combo. This one is easy to defend against, as it’s rhythmic circles of his hammer. You can either attempt to parry them, or simply dodge backwards out of the way. I’d suggest the first, as the parries come quick and easy and you’ll break his poise and cause him to stumble. If and when that happens, throw a Shard, elemental and attack with your own combos, and watch his health plummet.

- Corvus the Bloodthirsty
The second part comes when his health is over half depleted, where he’ll then start glowing red, put his hammer on the ground with a thump (avoid this as it’ll instill burn) and pull a long, metal shaft from out of his shoulder as if it was little more than a toothpick. Then he picks up the hammer and will attack you in a frenzy.
His circular combo becomes faster and harder hitting, he’s also a little quicker on his feet, and most irritatingly, and most likely to add to your death counter, he now has a new attack. This attack isn’t as telegraphed as his others, but he will rush you, this time with his hammer pushed out, and pushing you backwards at the same time. It’ll annihilate your health, so be prepared, full health preferably or ready to dodge out of the way.
When there’s time, make use of your skills, attack sparingly, don’t miss a parry and avoid his push attack mentioned above. Philip is one of the easier bosses in the opening area, and you shouldn’t have too much trouble with him, especially if you go with the quicker shield and sword compared to the slower axe or staff.
Once you see his health drop to zero, well done, you’ve defeated Philip, and now, you get some loot!
